How to do it
Setup. Stand next to a chair, which you may hold onto as a support. Stand on one leg. This will be your starting position.
- Keeping your leg straight, raise it as far out to the side as possible, and swing it back down, allowing it to cross the opposite leg.
- Repeat this swinging motion 5-10 times, increasing the range of motion as you do so.
Cues
- Hold a support, stand tall.
- Swing the leg out and across.
- Grow the range each swing.
- Keep the hips square.
Common mistakes
- Leaning the torso into the swing.
- Locking the standing knee.

A starting point, not a law. Pick a weight you could lift two or three more times than the top of the range. When every set hits the top of the range, add a little weight.
