How to do it
Setup. Using a 41 inch band, stand on one end, spreading your feet a small amount. Bend at the hips to loop the end of the band behind your neck. This will be your starting position.
- Keeping your legs straight, extend through the hips to come to a near vertical position.
- Ensure that you do not round your back as you go down back to the starting position.
Cues
- Band under the feet, behind the neck.
- Soft knees, push the hips back.
- Flat back, chest proud.
- Stand up with the glutes.
Common mistakes
- Rounding the back.
- Squatting instead of hinging.

Tempo2-0-1
A starting point, not a law. Pick a weight you could lift two or three more times than the top of the range. Tempo is seconds down, pause, up. When every set hits the top of the range, add a little weight.
Go easy, or pick an alternative, if you have a cranky lower back. Pain that's sharp or gets worse set to set means stop.
