How to do it

Setup. Lie down on the floor and secure your feet. Your legs should be bent at the knees.

  1. Place your hands behind or to the side of your head. You will begin with your back on the ground. This will be your starting position.
  2. Flex your hips and spine to raise your torso toward your knees.
  3. At the top of the contraction your torso should be perpendicular to the ground. Reverse the motion, going only ¾ of the way down.
  4. Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions.

Tempo1-0-2

A starting point, not a law. Pick a weight you could lift two or three more times than the top of the range. Tempo is seconds down, pause, up. When every set hits the top of the range, add a little weight.

Go easy, or pick an alternative, if you have a cranky lower back. Pain that's sharp or gets worse set to set means stop.
